It’s recommended to consider changing your A/C thermostats. We did this and I’ve seen many Facebook comments saying the same. We now have a Honeywell which works much better and saves on the electricy bill as well. We used Tool Time to install ours.

Curtains JVT-size
Pottery barn in the Dubai Mall do ones that fit JVT villas off the shelf.
Dragon mart will custom make in 1 hr in the shop whilst you browse the rest of the mall. Just choose your material.

Cutlery Trays that fit in JVT kitchen drawers!
Ace has individual cutlery holders that work. Try IKEA’s 4-slot curved tray that apparently fit. An ingenious resident has used double-sided sticky tape/pads to attach the cutlery tray to the top of the rails which leaves space underneath the tray for storage of other utensils as well. We do have great minds in JVT !

Don’t let flies spoil your outdoor meals!
A fellow resident bought a fly trap from the Garden Centre for 95aed. Made by Efekto Australia. Her advice is to keep it in the sun a in a far out corner of the garden as it’s a bit smelly. “it works SO well! No more flies in the house and hundreds in the trap.” If you get one, let us know how you like it!

Carrefour have metal ones and they install. ACE have plastic ones. Another suggestion: www.ic4uae.com. Or head out on the road to Masafi and you’ll find tons of places that do sheds, cabins etc according to one fellow resident!
Landscaping & Gardeners
There are plenty that leave their cards on your doorstep but the trick is finding a good one ! Since this is quite subjective, I’ve decided only to post if someone raves about their gardener.

Jumeirah Islands Club has a swimming pool, hamman, sauna and also a fitness room with lots of equipment. They run regular classes and have a complete morning schedule for the ladies as well as some kids classes.

Residents Advice:
One resident says: “I have tried his team a few times and very prompt service.” June 2015
October 2016: another resident also sent me a glowing report on Mr Nawaz regarding work to fix an electrical malfunction. He also called him a second time when they were locked out of their house. Mr Nawaz responded quickly coming to their home at 9pm. “He was honest, not over priced and his work was clean.”
One resident did have a bad experience as reported in May 2015. It sounds like one should be careful about the type of work requested and ask the necessary questions about the company’s qualifications to do the job. Maybe this was just a one time thing. “Recently used Mr Nawas’s services in JVC and I can confirm this handyman has no idea how to fix AC or water pump.”
Handyman Service Dubai Call: 055-1586022. Roshan has also informed me they have made pet enclosures in JVT and all kinds of technical repairs, small odd jobs, complete maintenance, repair, general build, garden, pool work etc!
A Resident warns: “tried Roshan but he cancelled an appointment we made despite telling him it was urgent. He has then not returned any calls and ignores messages”

Important Note: A few residents have noticed that their newly installed sliding frames do not pop out, as they should. They should easily pop out to be repaired when damaged. Verify this is the case if you are having some installed!

One resident highly recommends SSG movers. “They were so professional, with lots of common sense to solve unexpected problems. Call Ali 0508566904. I used them to move in the previous tenant used them to move out and he praised them (no scratches nor damages)plus they are extremely reasonable. instead of paying double I was able to negotiate (i.e I packed kitchen items like plates glasses, etc).”

Here’s an option that comes highly recommended by a friendly resident in District 7. Try: Maintain ME on 050 3760 772. He says: ” They truly do an excellent job, on time and extremely professional British run and managed.”
It seems you can call 800-PAINT according to one resident. They had downstairs walls done for 500AED
Another resident recommends Mohammed from Tip Top. Call: 050 140 1374. I tried them and they did an excellent top at a great rate!

A few residents have used Happy Happenings and were very pleased. Give them a call for your next kid’s birthday or family event! Icing on the cake, Unaiza is a JVT Townhouse Resident. Isn’t it nice to give work to our neighbors? I hope to try her services out soon!
Here’s another company that a JVT resident recommends: Petals and Pearls Events. They did a baby shower in her garden and she was truly pleased. Anyone else has used them? Let us know!

Residents have used and would recommend: Akkad Pest Control or Jumeirah Pest Control. I really like the team at Akkad. They use non-toxic gel inside and offer a six-month guarantee !

In the early days of JVT, the closest shop was Spinneys located in Springs Town Centre.
Nearby, JP now has a shopping centre since Sept 2014 called Jumeirah Park Pavilion. Here you’ll find Geant Express.
Most recently (since Sept 2015) the closest large supermarket is Carrefour in the Me’aisim Shopping Centre off Fay Road. Click here for website listing all the stores and restaurants.
Another close large supermarket is Geant at Ibn Battuta which is just a short 10 minutes away thanks to Garn Al Sabkha road.
You also have Union Coop in Al Barsha and then Carrefour in Mall of the Emirates. You can find another Spinneys at Motor City, a mini Spinneys in Meadows and a Geant Express in Arabian Ranches.
Another great option – try Dinnertime. They take the worry out of meal planning and send you the ingredients for a week’s worth of dinners for 4 or 2. All you need to do is cook up the fresh food in less than 30 minutes of your time!

Organic Food & Cafe also does delivery although I’ve frankly never been lucky with them. I have recently tried Fresh2Door and was pretty pleased with their selection, although a few items I passed over as not all that fresh. Two other options come recommended by a JVT resident: trolley.ae and supermart.ae, the latter has delivered to her in 45 minutes. That must be a record!

There are lots of reputable companies installing swimming pools in Dubai.
