JVT’s very own Quality cleaning service

JVT is a great community filled with young families, upwardly mobile couples and plenty of entrepreneurial folks. As you know, I take pleasure in presenting the companies created by fellow JVT residents, especially when they have something great to offer the community. I will also be happy to feature residents in a “Meet your Neighbors” series if your job involves a service that can be provided to those of us living here or looking to live here. Let me know if you would like to appear on these JVT blog pages !

Today’s story is about Melly. Melly moved here two years ago and started her own business a little over 4 months ago.  A recent start up indeed! However, she’s got lots of experience running the same business already in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain for three years now.

Melly is specialized in providing support to families without a live-in maid or who need a little extra help for a special party or maybe petcare while the whole family is away. Quality Touch Cleaning Services provides live-out maids and indoors training for live-in maids, standard and deep cleaning, the big clean when moving in or out of a new place, babysitting services, party help and even pet care, Most importantly,  Melly says that Quality Touch was founded on the idea of providing Quality Service. She explained that they heard about alot of dissatisfied friends and acquantainces who hired some extra, live-out help and she wanted to address that problem. She’s set up a ‘Know Your Customer’ list of requirements for her staff to ensure they provide top service at all times. With a work force of 35 people, Melly believes in treating her team well and striving to reach the 100% satisfaction guarantee. “We love to feel our customers are gratified,” she says.

With so many cleaning services available in Dubai, I asked Melly how her company is different. Being able to apply her experience in the hotel industry across Europe means that she has the skills in staff management, hotel housekeeping services, heavy-duty cleaning and gala reception management that sets her apart from the competition.

If you have tried out Quality Touch Cleaning, let us know what you think. If you haven’t given them a go, Melly is ready to offer JVT Residents a 10% discount and she’s got a loyalty program in the works as well. I’m going to be giving them a test run for sure!

On a more personal level, Melly told me how much she enjoys living in the UAE. She feels this is one of the safest countries in the world and she appreciates the multi-cultural environment we live in. She also remarked on the flexibility and ease of establishing a business here in the UAE. Of course, there was mention of the challenging road situation in JVT, but we know that is temporary and nothing dampens her pleasure of arriving home to her lovely garden and enjoying the company of friendly neighbors she tells me. “We have discovered that JVT is the most warm and welcoming community in Dubai. That was our first impression when we moved in and we have no doubt on it today.”

It’s wonderful to know that we have such enterprising neighbors and look forward to profiling many more of you over time!

It looks like traffic relief is coming to residents in the JVT, JVP and JI neighborhoods soon. Qarn Al Sabkha road to open Friday.

This seems to be the new collection of fly-overs at the far end of Jumeirah Park which will now link all the way to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Road (old Emirates Rd).

Here is a picture of the road access being opened Friday morning. Who has tried it?

Shopping Center in JVT – closer to being a reality

As reported today in designMENA:

Dar Al-Handasah to engineer Nakheel Jumeirah project

Nakheel’s shopping, dining and entertainment hub at Jumeirah Village Triangle has moved a step closer with the appointment of international engineering consultancy Dar Al-Handasah.

The mall will be built alongside Dubai’s Al Khail Road, on the southern edge of Jumeirah Village Triangle.

It will feature a multi-screen cinema, supermarket, department stores, speciality shops and an array of cafes and restaurants, the developer said in a statement.

It added that Dar Al-Handasah will undertake design, engineering and supervision services for the project, for which a construction tender will be released in Q1 2015.

Dar Al-Handasah has worked on a number of other Nakheel projects, including The Pointe at Palm Jumeirah, the Dragon Mart extension and nearly 3,000 villas which make up the Nakheel’s Jumeirah Park residential community.

Note from Editor of JVT Community Blog:

It is interesting to note that we also now see a billboard on 311 across from JVT announcing a new City Centre shopping mall. Soon, the options may be overwhelming !!

New Community Centre at Jumeirah Park

20140813_191847

It’s too bad that Nakheel has decided to close the access road to Jumeirah Park just as they announce the opening of the new shopping center in the neighborhood next door. I had a look around yesterday and as they said, only a few outlets are open for now. However, it’s quite big and, in time, will have alot more shops than Town Centre just nearby. Goodbye long lines and traffic at Spinneys  when we say hello to Geant Express !

For now, you can get a coffee at two places, get your hair cut at the women’s or men’s salon or buy a video game at Geekay…

Gulf News reports about residents’ petition to Nakheel

If you haven’t heard about the petition spearheaded by a dynamic JVT resident that urges Nakheel to finally complete works in the community, read the recent Gulf News article below.

Indeed, many of the main complaints are about issues that have been festering for years now. Four years after delivery, residents still wait for simple road signs whose absence creates ridiculous challenges for taxis to find us, dinner deliveries to arrive and has even surely caused more than one friend to say ‘I’ll never come visit you again!’. The gated community that Nakheel promised owners has also never materialized causing a reported fear among residents of a rise in petty crime. While we nevertheless live a very safe life here in Dubai, it would certainly be greatly appreciated by all residents that Nakheel move into high gear for completing JVT !

At least, there has been a marked improvement in the work of the landscaping crew. Let’s hope for many more improvements very soon thanks to the petitioners !

Hundreds of Jumeirah Village Triangle (JVT) residents on Wednesday petitioned their developer, Nakheel, who, they claim, has “abandoned” them and left the community unsafe with many unfinished construction projects that are “accidents waiting to happen”. Read more…

Security & Safety in JVT

It’s been some time since I’ve been able to post to the community. Have you all missed me?

I imagine that alot of you can understand how one get’s submerged with work or family duties. With the onset of summer I am eagerly awaiting what I feel is a well-deserved break from the routine! As Ramadam begins and the summer heat sets in, it’s time for us all to let up on the gas pedal, even if slightly, enjoy time with family and some days off. Before then, I want to get these recent community reports I’ve received out to all my followers in JVT.

The most recent news I’ve had about security and safety in JVT concerns the theft of motorcyles. It’s important we all stay vigilant and together we can ensure our community stays safe.

On June 9th, a fellow resident wrote to inform me that he had learned a motorcycle was stolen in JVT District 4, in the daytime. He had a direct experience a week before when a thief attempted to steal his bike and he awoke to find a broken lock. That same night, an attempt was also made to relieve his neighbor of his motorcycle that was chained up in his car port in District 9. Police and security were called but certainly a watchful community can also do alot to curb stealing. He’s also learned about the case of a stolen motorcylce in the Springs. This sounds like a repeat offender is about and we should all concern ourselves with theft to prevent such offences.

This concerned resident tells me that in the last year a few other items were taken from his yard including a garden hose and even a pair of old flip flops !

About two months ago, I had another message from a female resident. She’s a regular runner in JVT, for about three years now, in the early evenings or early on weekend mornings. She had started noticimg a suspicious white Nisssan Sunny that seemed to be following her about on a regular basis. The incidents were reported to security and she noted an increase of police presence after that. If others have noticed similiar concerns about their safety, make sure this is reported and unwanted visitors are kept out of our neighborhood.

Stay aware, be sure to question any suspicious characters lurking about and call the police to report anything out of the ordinary.

Another supermarket in JVT

UPDATED: 1 Nov 2015

They now deliver! Call: 052 639 0595

As reported to me by a fellow resident, Siva, another new supermarket has opened one week ago in JVT. I went down to have a look. Posting some photos below for those who haven’t paid them a visit yet. Clearly, not nearly as posh as Milestone. I found the prices a little high. Although I haven’t compared, they seem to rival on the price point with Milestone without the gourmet, luxury cachet. I’m nevertheless delighted to have another option just down the street.  It will be interesting to see how they do.
